Abiding Principles

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”  – John 15:5 (NIV)

Lord, every now and then, You remind me of what life will be without You.  I have learned  that to abide in You is a foundational principle of true discipleship.  I confess that there are times when my passion for You is not as it should be.  More times than not it is because I have sin in my life or I desire something that is contrary to Your will for me.

Today, I make the decision to accept God’s verdict on sin as judged on the Cross of Jesus Christ.  I identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of my Lord.  I choose to live in Your light and leave the darkness of sin .  Walk with me on today as I cut out sinful thoughts and actions.  Give me the freedom to walk as a child of God that only comes to those who abide in You.  Keep me by Your grace.

In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
